How to Import a Figma Frame into Swelik and Share It with a Client

A step-by-step guide to turning one Figma frame into an unlisted client preview, including what is imported and what remains in Figma.
Swelik can import a selected Figma frame as a PDF and present it through an unlisted browser preview. The designer supplies the file link and an access token, selects a frame and creates the preview. The client receives a public review link rather than the token or the editable Figma file.
This guide covers that specific workflow. It is a static export, not a live Figma embed or an interactive prototype. Use it when the review concerns the visual arrangement, content and presentation of a website mockup. Keep interactive journey testing in the appropriate prototype or functioning website.
Prepare the file before importing
Open the design in Figma and identify the frame you want the client to review. Give the frame a meaningful name that includes the page or layout. Avoid selecting a large workspace containing unrelated drafts when a focused homepage frame would communicate the decision more clearly.
Check that the frame contains the intended content and that any provisional wording is identified. Remove confidential notes from the export area. The resulting preview is unlisted, but anyone who possesses its public URL may be able to view it.
Swelik's frame picker lists supported frames from the file structure it reads. It is not a browser for every deeply nested layer. If the intended frame is not listed, place the review frame at the top level of a page or export it manually as PDF.
Get the link and access credential
Use a Figma design file link. The importing account must have access to that file, and the personal access token needs file_content:read permission. A token does not grant access to a file that the account itself cannot read.
Keep the token private. It belongs in the import form, not in a client email, screenshot, project name or public preview URL. See the Figma import access guide for the distinction between the credential and the links used in the workflow.
This version of Swelik uses a personal token rather than a Sign in with Figma authorization flow. If you prefer not to submit a token, export the frame to PDF in Figma and use Swelik's ordinary Upload file option instead.
Select Figma import in Swelik
Open the upload area and choose Figma import. The updated form places it alongside Upload file and HTML / CSS code. Enter a recognizable project name, paste the design file link and enter the token.
Choose Load frames. This reads the available frame information so you can select the correct design. Loading the list is a separate operation from rendering the frame; a successful list does not guarantee that a complex export will complete immediately.
Select the intended frame and choose Create Figma preview. Allow the operation to finish before starting another attempt. Large or complex designs can take longer to export, and Figma's API limits or a hosting connection failure can interrupt the request.
Inspect the result before sending it
Open the public preview yourself. Check the beginning, middle and end of the page, especially if the website design is tall. Inspect text, photographs and any effects that matter to the design. Confirm that the imported frame is the revision you intended to share.
PDF can preserve vector detail, but it does not manufacture detail that is missing from an embedded photograph. A low-resolution image can still look soft at high zoom. The import also does not bring across editable layers, comments from Figma or prototype interactions.
If the source export needs preparation, use the Figma PDF export checklist. Review the actual imported artifact rather than assuming it matches the canvas without inspection.
Send the right link to the right person
Send the public preview URL to your client with a short description of what needs review. Include the page name, revision and the questions you want answered. Keep the private management link for yourself because it can be used to change or delete the preview.
Save that management link somewhere appropriate for your project. You will need it to replace the design, add other device layouts or manage the project later. Do not expect the public preview to provide owner controls.
For example, ask the client to confirm the service wording and the primary action on the homepage. Do not ask them to approve the working contact form when the artifact is a static PDF that cannot demonstrate form submission.
Add another device or revision later
The initial import creates the project's desktop design. Open the private management page to add a separate mobile or tablet design. Device tabs appear in the public viewer after those designs have been added; they are not generated from the desktop frame automatically.
When a revision is ready, use Update from Figma in management and select the correct device target. The same-link update guide explains how to keep the client destination stable while identifying the revision under review.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a local .fig file?
No. This feature imports a selected frame through a Figma design link and API credential. A local .fig file is not a supported upload format.
Does the client need my token?
No. The token is used for the import request. The client receives the public Swelik preview URL and should not receive your Figma credential or private management link.
What if the export fails?
Read the message and avoid repeated rapid retries. Check the selected frame and access first. If export remains unavailable, export a PDF in Figma and upload that file. The troubleshooting guide separates access, rendering and preview problems.
